Our Active Travel Crew
We are proud to be members of the Sustrans Active Journeys programme. This programme aims to support the school to promote walking, scooting, cycling and other sustainable methods of transportation to and from school.
As part of the programme, Sustrans offer a range of support and guidance to school including:
- guidance and support to address specific travel issues around the school
- activities and lessons focused on active travel
- incentives for the school community that promote cycling, walking and scooting
- access to our activity guides, curriculum support materials and on-line challenges.

Speed Cameras - Clappers Lane
PC Stu and two of our local PCSOs came into school recently to work with the Active Travel Champions. They discussed how important it is to have safe roads to allow people to have active journeys to and from school.
PC Stu spoke to pupils about the speed limit around the school site and explained what could happen if motorists don’t follow the rules.
The pupils were then shown how to use the speed guns before venturing out onto Clappers Lane where the number of motorists speeding was in double digits! The PCSOs have noted down registration plates and these drivers will be receiving a letter and a poster designed by the children to remind them to stick to the speed limit.
We recently updated our Governors of our Active Travel journey so far. It was great to share all of the wonderful things the pupils have been involved with!
