The Blitz

Over the last couple of weeks, the children in Dosbarth Penfro have been analysing data from the Blitz to identify the safest locations in Wales to send evacuees. During the process, the children have used their knowledge of German tactics to predict the safest locations based on their position in the country, analysed the bombing data to find number of casualties and used their results to make recommendations. Lots of fantastic digital skills used to create their final piece. We have also been planning a science experiment based on blackout in WWII. Dosbarth Penfro and Dosbarth Bodelwyddan have been working together to learn about how light travels and how light helps us to see objects. We have then discussed how blocking out light was important during the Blitz. Pupils have predicted which material would be best to blackout windows and carried out a fair investigation to find the results.
