Relief Caretaker


We are looking for a proactive, motivated, reliable and friendly relief caretaker who has initiative, to join our Site Support Team.


We are looking to employ an enthusiastic person with a good sense of humour, who will play a key role in maintaining the school site, to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for the whole school community. 


Usual hours of work during term time are 30 hours per week, 7.30am – 9.30am and 2.30pm – 6.30pm. (Some flexibility would be considered). 

Any annual leave must be taken during school holidays. Hours of work during school holidays can be agreed with the Headteacher, and additional weekly hours will be discussed at interview.


You will be responsible for keeping the school secure, be able to carry out minor maintenance repairs, carry out safety checks as required and ensure adequate records are maintained. As one of the key holders, you will also be responsible for the daily unlocking and locking of the school. 


You will organise the efficient removal of waste from the building and the grounds, including recycling, and ensure that the outdoors are kept clear of weeds, leaves, litter and debris. You may have an interest in gardening and a passion to help keep our green spaces looking their best!

Relief Cleaner 

We are seeking a relief cleaner to work at the school. Usual hours of work are 10 hours per week between 3.30pm - 6.30pm Monday - Friday. (Some flexibility would be considered).

Principal Accountabilities

The range of work carried out by our cleaning staff covers the cleaning of all rooms, toilets, corridors, staircases, offices and other such areas that are in use at the direction of senior staff. You will be expected to:

1.     Carry out all work to the required standard, at the stated frequencies, and as instructed by senior staff.

2.    Report to senior staff anything that is likely to affects your work or anything you consider they should be aware of.

3.    Work cooperatively with the other cleaners at the school

4.    Comply with the school and Local Authority health and Safety practices including COSHH

5.    Maintain storage lockers, cupboards and machinery in a clean and tidy condition.

6.    Use cleaning equipment and materials in the prescribed manner, accepting responsibility for the equipment used and ensuring its safe usage and storage.

7.    Complete any required paperwork including time sheets.

8.    Carry out any other reasonable work instructions
