Toe by Toe
Toe By Toe is an intervention designed for pupils who find reading difficult. This includes weak readers who struggle to decode or those with dyslexic difficulties. Following teaching assessment and/or standardised assessment, pupils may be identified as requiring additional reading support through Toe by Toe. The intervention is delivered by Learning Support Assistants two to three times per week over an agreed time frame.
The name Toe By Toe is used to signify that pupils make progress by the tiniest steps – one toe at a time. However, even though the steps taken are small, students can clearly measure progress right from the first page. Confidence and self-esteem are proven to have been boosted as a result of this intervention.
